Employment Credit Checking

We check publicly available data to reveal any adverse information, including:

  • County Court Judgments (CCJs), bankruptcies, Voluntary Arrangements, decrees in Scotland and administration orders (this search will be at current and previous addresses)
  • Checks for detrimental data at addresses that are linked to the current address provided by the applicant. These addresses may not have been disclosed by the applicant
  • Accesses the Alias and Associations file, which is used to retrieve as much appropriate information concerning the applicant as possible.

Adverse financial data

Our leading-edge data assets can highlight financial red flags such as bankruptcies and other adverse data as part of our employment credit checking service, which can provide valuable warning signs into a candidate's financial status, a key indicator of how likely a candidate is to commit fraud.

Candidate credit checking is important for all staff including temporary and contract staff. Both temporary and contract staff often have access to the same information that permanent staff do. This is particularly relevant to the credit industry, which is vulnerable to potential data misuse, due to the access staff have to customers' financial details. Any candidate who will have access to sensitive information should undergo a financial background check to guard against potential fraudsters.

Candidate credit checking with the UK's most comprehensive credit databases

Real-time data updates ensure that our candidate credit checking service has access to the most recent credit information. With up to six years history available in some areas, Experian provides over 4 billion consumer touch points.

Experian also holds fraud data and in excess of 60 million records of shared application data.

Key data assets for financial background checking

Experian Background Checking uses a combination of data assets to assess signs of financial stress. This includes information from Registry Trust Ltd, Official Gazettes and the Insolvency Service, which provide 6 million County Court Judgments (CCJs), decrees in Scotland, bankruptcies, administration orders and voluntary arrangements.

Our financial background checks also include searches for detrimental data at addresses that are linked to the current addresses provided by the applicant. We access the Alias and Associations file which contains details of over 100 million financial aliases and associations. This is used to retrieve as much appropriate information concerning the applicant as possible.
