Experian's residential property transactions database contains a wealth of information on the housing market, with property price trends gauged for over 9,000 postal sectors in Great Britain.

Homeowners, potential buyers, residential estate agents, lenders and insurers are all interested in property prices in local areas, as is a diverse range of businesses, including builders, property developers, DIY retailers and garden centres. The strength of the housing market also directly affects the demand for many products and services, and is a measure of consumer confidence.

A few key facts

• The database is built using information supplied by HM Land Registry (England and Wales) and the Registers of Scotland (RoS).
• Information is updated on a quaterly basis for England and Wales, with sales volumes for 24 price bands and four types of property. In Scotland, data is updated quarterly for 22 prices bands but does not include information on property type.
• Data is available by postal sector.
• Residential Property transaction information is available in a variety of formats including reports, maps, electronic data files, via the Internet, as pre-packaged datasets or within Experian's desktop mapping software, Micromarketer Generation3.
